THE WEARABLE BOUNDARY

"The Wearable Boundary" couples works with the exhibition space to explore the two "environments" of contemporary jewellery - context and situation. The former refers to the context of the historical development of jewellery, while the latter focuses on the self-identity of jewellery in a specific environment.

Since the 1960s, craft has tended towards the field of fine art. The term "conceptual" has gradually seeped into the creative genes of jewellery artists. "Concept art" emphasizes the relationship of " ideas and meaning come first, and form and representation come later." 

However, if it is completely transplanted to jewellery, it faces the question of "medium constraints." Therefore, many contemporary jewellery artists have achieved new breakthroughs by critically using the "mutual drive" between medium and idea, reversing the constraints of the medium in a dialectical way. While jewellery is breaking through the context problem, it is also moving towards the "white box" space, and has become a regular guest in gallery and museums. However, as a daily object, it is becoming increasingly distant from life. 

The context problem of jewellery is still being solved, but the side effect is that a new identity recognition bias has arisen in the scenes where it should be. Can we build a composite exhibition space by leveraging the composite cultural characteristics of jewellery? GALLERY JINJING was born out of this idea. The creation of jewellery embraces art, while the wearing of jewellery steps into life.”
